Shims & Gaskets

Artus is relied on by industry leaders worldwide for precision alignment and sealing. We are best known for custom shims and gaskets as thin as 0.0005” and our color-coded materials.
 
We will produce custom shims and gaskets to your exact specifications. Send us your blueprint, and we’ll deliver the results (in any shape and size).
 
Depending on your application, choose from plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, or brass material. Plastic and aluminum shims and gaskets are color-coded for easier identification.

Description

Artus commits to helping you save on costs without compromising on quality. We buy inexpensive steel rule dies and quality raw materials in large quantities to reduce costs. We make cost-saving steel rule dies in 2 to 3 days, reducing the lead time on initial orders for new shim designs. There are no set-up charges on future orders.
 
You can learn more about Artus plastic and metal shims from our shim and gasket brochure. Timken Shims are available for cone-and-cup-adjusted tapered roller bearings (see brochure). We also manufacture shim stock and slotted shims to whatever specifications you need.

Artus Shims

  • Plastic Shims: durable, pliable, cost-effective, non-hygroscopic, impervious to oil, and minimal compression
  • Aluminum Shims: non-compressible, burr-free, rust-proof, heat-resistant, and long-lasting
  • Stainless Steel Shims: for extreme conditions and demanding applications. We use Stainless Steel 300 Series Alloy, making them non-corrosive and rust-proof.
  • Low Carbon Steel Shims: We use Cold Rolled 1010 Steel, making them durable and economical.
  • Brass Shims: We use 70/30 B36 Cartridge Brass. It is incredibly ductile, strong, and corrosion-resistant.
  • Custom Shims: Available in any size, shape, or material you need

Artus Gaskets

  • Custom gaskets are available in plastic, vegetable fiber, cork composition, and asbestos-substitute material.
  • Contact us for help finding the material best suited to your needs.

 

The Color Tells the Thickness

Color-coded products are available in aluminum and plastic for your convenience. Each color represents a specific thickness, making distinguishing between thicknesses quick and easy. Shim thickness varies as little as 0.00035”. Differentiating by color instead of measuring can save time and reduce errors.
